2012 First Snowfall

Shortly after 10:30 this morning, the National Weather Service expanded the Winter Storm Watch to include the City of Chicago, most of northern Illinois, and portions of northwest Indiana.  The Winter Storm Watch runs from Thursday afternoon through Thursday night.  For most of the metro area, including the city, rain is expected to quickly change over to heavy snow between 1PM and 4PM Thursday.  Counties under the Winter Storm Watch include Cook, Du Page, Will, Lake (IL), McHenry, Kane, De Kalb, Grundy, Kendall, La Salle, Lake (IN), Porter, La Porte, St. Joseph and Berrien.
