2026 Spring

The tire amnesty program, yard waste collection, and free compost stockpiles have once again been scheduled for this year.  Early each spring, on selected Saturdays, anyone living in Palatine Township can drop off their used tires free of charge at our garage.  If you are a resident of Palatine Township, stop by and unload your old tires at the Road District Garage, located at: 530 N. Smith Street, Palatine.  Bookending Earth Day, the tire amnesty program will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday April 18, 2026, and Saturday April 25, 2026.  We will begin our annual yard waste collection for the unincorporated areas on April 6, 2026, and will continue through Thanksgiving week, November 23, 2026.  Free compost stockpiles for your garden will be made available for pick up at the same time.

Our 2027 Fiscal Year Operating Budget was approved earlier this year and operates from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027.  This operating budget is funded by the 2025 Tax Levy and previous levies have not been raised in the last fifteen years.  Proposed in the budget is the 2026 Capital Infrastructure Project to resurface the roadways within the Forest Estates Subdivision in the southeastern portion of the township.  We will replace any compromised curb and gutter, mill the roadways 2”, inspect, patch, prime, and resurface with 2” of asphalt surface course.  Once the improvements have been made, we will return to install new high intensity prismatic traffic signs to provide better retro-reflectivity of sight.

Like our surrounding municipalities, we have an excellent staff of experienced employees that are well qualified to maintain your infrastructure needs and through prudent spending we have been able to do so effectively.  If you have any questions, concerns or need any additional information regarding our services, please feel free to email me at adelmar@palatinetownship-il.gov.
